CRAICLY is doing something a little bit different for this particular evening!
Join us in the James Joyce Room, on the week of arguably the most celebrated literary day in the world - Bloomsday! (well, the day after - Bloomsday is the 16th)
Under the gaze of James Joyce, and in the heart of Dublin, on Grafton Street, we will be celebrating new writing works from Irish Writers, and a few Joycean odes along the way.
Ulysses is now recognised as one of the most important works of literature in the English language, a modernist masterpiece. However, the novel’s path to publication was far from straightforward. Having been first serialised in an American journal - The Little Review, the novel was published in its entirety following the support of Sylvia Beach, publisher and owner of Shakespeare & Co Bookshop in Paris. It was this intervention, following a chance meeting at a dinner party, that allowed Joyce to finally publish his masterpiece following repeated rejections from other publishing houses.
For our CRAICLY evening, in celebration of Irish writing, the art of literature and celebrating published and unpublished writers we are bring together a group of writers who will read to us from some of their works. We are delighted to welcome some of the creative team from INSURGENT PRESS, London. This talented group of writers, poets and artists work primarily in London, and have host open mics, publish writings, creative projects and stories connected to place.
(WE ARE ACCEPTING INTEREST FROM WRITERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN US AND READ ON THE NIGHT!) - jane@craiclystories.com ( approx 2,000 words max)
