Jane’s book - “ A Seat by the Fire” - CRAICLY STORIES for Ireland ” is now available for pre-order, and will be on shelves from October 26th 2026.
This gorgeous book is an ode to the Irish ability to welcome each other with stories, to entertain, remember and learn with stories and to have the craic!
Described as “part memoir / part manifesto”, the journey from the first ever CRAICLY in our home straw shed in Kildare, to Merry’s Bar in Dungarvan, food festivals, grand halls, family farms and more. The stories, people, places and experiences along the way are described in this little treasure of a book. Many CRAICLY storytellers generously contributed, and their short stories tell us of lives well lived across the island!
It is a book about the oldest remedy for loneliness that this country possessess - each other.
Hard backed, packed with images from all over Ireland. Enjoy!
Jane Gormley - Founder
Jane, an experienced storyteller and writer, founded CRAICLY in a direct response to the clear disconnect being experienced in a rapidly digitized world.
A lucky combination of being a story fanatic and of being based in rural Ireland - surrounded by beauty, heritage, history, mystery and fun… The Craic. There was a plethora of factors as to how CRAICLY came to life.
Struck by reports of a growing, global epidemic of loneliness it seemed an achievable contribution to create friendly events for people to get together and celebrate both people and place through storytelling. To experience and discuss real life, past and present. To do something real and non-digital. And the story themes are never ending!
Jane was the winner of the 2026 Wild Atlantic Way Writing Awards for Creative Non-Fiction. “A Seat by the Fire” is her first book.
