HERITAGE WEEK - CRAICLY at DERRYMULLEN ORGANIC FARM - WALK & TALK
Heritage week in Ireland is celebrating "Heritage at Risk" this year.
This year, we are going to be at home on Derrymullen Farm, Kildare where Willie Mulhall, CRAICLY storyteller and farm at Derrymullen, will lead a walk on the farm explain the farm's story, journey to organics and multiple different initiatives, projects and efforts being made on the farm to support wildlife and natural farming, to welcome and attract new wildlife and to support and protect Ireland's bio-diversity and natural life.
Within the forests, meadows, walkways and fields this farm is home to multiple species of birds, mammals and insects. Rare creatures like barn owls, kestrels, badgers, multiple endangered small song birds, kingfishers, foxes, native plants and pollinators are thriving here, and their populations grow year on year thanks to clear steps to protect them.
Derrymullen Farm is an organic, commercial enterprise - of mixed cattle and forestry, with many areas reserved fully for nature. Willie will explain and describe the journey to converting to organics, the additional Farming for Nature initiatives he works on and everything that has changed on the farm since he began this journey.
