STORIES OF “THE COW” - CRAICLY & CULTURE NIGHT 2026
CRAICLY STORIES is one of Ireland’s most innovative, community storytelling projects celebrating memoir style tales, true stories and some Irish folklore. Founded in 2023 by writer Jane Gormley in response to both a rise in loneliness levels, and a love of storytelling - this project has since travelled to unique Irish places all over the island from Stradbally Hall, to Glenbrook Farm, to Smyths Shop in County Clare! For Culture Night 2026, CRAICLY is back in their first ever venue, and homeplace - Derrymullen Farm, Allenwood.
This special evening will take place in the Cow Shed, and celebrate multiple stories of “The Cow”. Derrymullen is a 200 acre organic operation, with a herd of Speckled Park Cattle and home to generations of farmers! Storytellers will include people working with cattle, writing about cows, some works of fiction focused on “the Cow”... there are many angles! We will also welcome food writer Kate Ryan, who will speak to her writing on the tradition of Irish food and read from her soon to be published book.
There will be some local musicians on hand to keep the atmosphere and conversation flowing after the stories finish.
Join a thriving creative community here on the Derrymullen - A family run Kildare organic beef and forestry operation. With the COW as the central character, we will be celebrating this wonderful Culture Night with a shared light supper, refreshments and Bovine Themed stories from writers, farmers, breeders, nature lovers, foodies and members of the beef farming community.
This event is suitable for people aged 16+ and will also be supported by some live music from local musicians! More details closer to the date.
